There are many habits you need to succeed in anything, eBay is no different. Listed below is the six I quickly came up with:
1.Desire to Succeed - I know this probably seems a little bit preachy, but I'm afraid its true. I get so many emails from people complaining that they're struggling to make money online and on eBay but they're not willing to put in the hard work to be successful. Trust me here, it's not easy, but if you follow a few hidden tricks of the trade you can pick it up in no time at all
2.Patience - To be honest I can see why people get a little dejected when they've been trying for months to make money on eBay only to fall at the last hurdle. You need to fail before you can succeed. You could probably compare it to baby steps. They have to find out all the little pitfalls and learn how to balance before they can put one foot in front of the other and start making progress.
An online business is no different. Getting rich quick is apipe dream and one that is peddled too much around certain forums and sales pages. If it was easy, everybody would be doing it!
3. A Mentor to Copy From - You've seen those cheesy Mentor type TV programs where they show their students all what they know. If you're serious about starting a business from home and want to make some decent money on eBay you're going to need a mentor. Someone to literally take you by the hand and show you the steps you need to make. I only advise this since I reckon I'd be a lot further ahead if I'd only taken my own advice here. Why struggle and make x amount of mistakes when you can learn from someone else's.
4. The Right Type of Products - this may seem like an obvious answer, but there's so many new and veteran eBay sellers that just don't get it. Please try and sell topics that are already selling and don't reinvent the wheel. That's the shortest route to success. Follow a proven path and it eliminates the risk instantly. Tip: Try looking at eBay pulse or Amazon to find out what their top ten sellers are. The results are there for free and the market research is already presented to you. You just need to make it work.
5. Plenty of Affiliate Products to Promote - It's no secret that I make money from back end affiliate products. Unless you're looking to produce you own high end product I'd research the market to find out f there's one already out there. This cut your timescale down when being able to make money. Yeah, you could produce your own and it'll probably take you months to finish. Try taking a short cut and promoting products that have already been produced for the market.
6. Superb Customer Service - This last point goes without saying. Give good customer service and you'll produce a lifetime of clients that will be happy to re-purchase from you in the future. The key here is to build a business and not look for short term gains. There's a book written that goes through this entire process in more detail and definitely doesn't pull any punches:
